Bike in a box

This is my bike in the S&S bike box. This was a dry run test to make sure I could make it work. The bike racks went into my other bag. This allows me to check this as one of my 2 free checked bags as long as it is under 50 lbs. I think it came in at 46 lbs so I should be good.

Here is everything all closed up and ready to go.

Is there a support van going along with you?

No, this is a self contained tour. That means we carry everything on our bikes and rely on each other, cell phones, and the kindness of strangers to deal with the unexpected things that will happen along the way.

How many people are riding?

As I understand it there are 15 total including a coordinator who is responsible for making lodging arrangements, paying for groceries and the other miscellaneous things that one can plan for on a trip like this.

Are you eating out?

Probably from time to time, but generally we are cooking our own meals. There is a rotation for cooking duty. I believe the plan is for 3 cooks per rotation. Not sure of much else other than I hope that I get into a group with at least 1 good cook.

Where are you staying?

Mostly a combination of camping and hostels. Some places camping is the only option.
